Athletify Yourself

Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of nerve, muscle and joint injuries.

  • We're sport and fitness focused with therapists specializing in golf and dance
  • We offer manual therapy including therapeutic exercise, acupuncture, and shockwave therapy

Physiotherapy at Athletify starts with an initial assessment to thoroughly analyze your physical condition. We assess by asking you questions about your symptoms followed by a series of movement and manual tests that allow us to confirm a working diagnosis.

At that point, we educate you on what exactly is happening. The second half of the initial visit to our Aurora physiotherapy clinic involves the treatment of your injury and/or your physical condition.

Our treatment approach is manual therapy (“hands-on”) and therapeutic exercise based. Depending on each individual care plan, treatments may also include shockwave therapy, acupuncture and dry needling.

Whatever the treatment strategy, the session always ends with education on how you can improve your condition away from the clinic. This includes strategies to modify daily habits that you might not be aware of that are contributing to the issue. Part of this “self care” education includes 1–3 key home exercises that will complement the in-clinic treatment and help you achieve your goal.

Shockwave Therapy

A cutting-edge therapeutic modality that uses sound energy to amplify your body’s healing process. This therapy doesn’t include leaving rubber pads or suction cups on the skin, it’s a treatment tool that sounds like a little jack hammer and it is always held by the therapist. The physiotherapist uses this machine to target the stubborn healing tissue to produce “microtrauma”. This microtrauma isn’t enough to worsen your injury, but it is enough to blast away excessive scar tissue and it stimulates a more aggressive healing process in the healthy surrounding tissue. The end result after 4–6 sessions is faster and stronger healing.

This therapy can be applied to many conditions of tendinosis, chronic tendinitis, and chronic muscle strains.
